Dr LO Kwok Yin Angelina
Founder Director, CreativeKids International Limited
Doctor of Philosophy (2020)
Proposer: Prof. SIU Kin Wai Michael

Dr Lo Kwok Yin Angelina has been a pioneer in creative art and design education in Hong Kong since 1991. She earned her Ph.D. from the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2020. Dr Lo employs constructivism and constructionism to encourage authentic thinking and “happy mistakes” among children aged 1.5 to 18. Leading a team of over 60 professionals, she collaborates with schools, NGOs, and cultural organisations to promote creativity for personal growth and social inclusion. Her innovative approach inspires young minds to develop courage, empathy, and resilience, helping to shape the future of creative education in Hong Kong.

Playful Public Design by Children (2019-2021) is a design research project led by Dr Angelina Lo that engaged 1,023 children in exploring and reimagining public design facilities in Tuen Mun Country Park. Rooted in constructivism, the project encouraged hands-on exploration, fostering curiosity and adaptability. The children’s innovative designs highlighted their unique perspectives and promoted community engagement and inclusivity. Documented in published research, this award-winning initiative underscores the impact of child-centred design on public spaces, solidifying Dr Lo’s leadership in design education and community-focused creativity.

Launched in 2025 as part of the PMQ Seed Programme, Seven Senses Adventure is an immersive experiential class designed by Dr Lo, engaging 96 parent-child pairs. This program integrates seven senses—sight, smell, sound, taste, touch, vestibular, and proprioception—to create sensory experiences that spark creativity and emotional connections. By emphasising “happy mistakes,” it fosters confidence, adaptability, and family bonding. This initiative reflects Dr Lo’s vision of blending art education with social impact, empowering participants to navigate a changing world with creativity and resilience. It also promotes community building and inclusivity through innovative, sensory-driven experiences.

Mr CHEUNG Wai Chun Kevin
Founder, Kevin Cheung Design
Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Design (Industrial & Product Design) (2009)
Proposer: Prof. LEE Yu Hin Brian

Mr Cheung Wai Chun Kevin is a pioneering upcycling product designer from Hong Kong who is dedicated to sustainability. He transforms waste materials into innovative and eco-conscious artworks and products. His commitment to balancing ecosystems, the economy, and society has earned him prestigious accolades, including the PERSPECTIVE 40 Under 40 award 2014 and the CreateSmart Young Design Talent Award 2021. Through collaborations with global brands like Hermès and community initiatives such as Can Roof, Kevin raises environmental awareness and demonstrates the power of design to create sustainable and contemporary solutions that inspire millions around the world.

In 2018, Kevin collaborated with Hermès' Petit h team, marking the brand's first use of factory off-cut silk fabrics for shop decor in Hong Kong. During his visit to Petit h’s workshop in Paris, Kevin discovered bags filled with high-quality silk off-cuts, each featuring unique hand-drawn patterns and stories. Over 5,000 silk pieces were sorted by colour and pattern, then mounted onto bamboo circles to create leaf-shaped installations. This vibrant display featured nine distinct colour zones. This project transformed waste into a narrative-driven, sustainable design, setting a new standard for eco-conscious luxury retail design.

In 2023, Kevin collaborated with Project KAMP in Portugal to develop Can Roof, an innovative roofing system made from locally collected aluminium cans. This open-source project was documented on YouTube and reached millions of viewers worldwide, promoting sustainable construction practices. By repurposing discarded cans into durable, eco-friendly roofing materials, Kevin aimed to reduce waste while providing communities with accessible, low-cost building solutions. The open-source model encourages global adoption, thereby enhancing its environmental impact. Can Roof exemplifies Kevin’s commitment to sustainable design, combining functionality with social and ecological benefits. It showcases his ability to create scalable solutions that inspire collective action for a greener future.
