Summary
The 2025 Foundation Year Exhibition, “Emergence: From Concept to Creation,” captures the transformative journey of design students of BA(Hons) Scheme in Design as they transition from initial ideas to tangible creations. It is a testament to their growth, exploration, and the dynamic evolution of design thinking, highlighting the dedication and creativity that define their educational experience.
The exhibits on display form a rich tapestry of ideas and skills, showcasing the diverse subject content that underpins our curriculum. Viewers will encounter the Social and Cultural Context of Design, where students delve into the impact of design on society and culture, examining how design can influence and reflect societal values. Basic Design Principles are highlighted, demonstrating the foundational elements that guide effective design and ensure functionality and aesthetics are in harmony. Conceptual Ideation is brought to life through imaginative projects that push the boundaries of creativity, encouraging students to explore new possibilities and innovative solutions. The exhibition also features 2D and 3D visualisation techniques, illustrating the students' ability to translate ideas into visual forms that communicate their vision effectively. Visual Narrative pieces tell compelling stories through design, engaging viewers with thought-provoking themes and messages. Object and Spatial Relationship exhibits explore the interaction between objects and their environments, emphasising the importance of context in design. Digital Fabrication and Prototyping are showcased, revealing the innovative processes students use to bring their designs to life, from initial sketches to fully realised models.
