Summary

This exhibition showcases the works by students of the SD3247 Applied Chinese Typography subject from the academic year of 2023/24.

The aim of this assignment is to foster students' exploration and appreciation of the aesthetics of Chinese characters. Through this assignment, students will be challenged to create a font that effectively showcases their understanding and appreciation of the unique structure and visual beauty of Chinese characters.

In this assignment, students will design 36 characters that demonstrate a range of stroke variations, encompassing both simpler and more complex strokes. These characters can be combined using left-right and up-down side radicals, allowing for creative composition possibilities.

The final submission should consist of the complete set of 36 characters, presented in a clear and visually appealing manner. Students are encouraged to pay meticulous attention to the intricate details and structure of each character, ensuring that stroke thickness, proportions, and overall composition contribute to a visually balanced and harmonious design.
