About SD Plus

SD Plus is a knowledge transfer unit of the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), providing professional design consultancy, research and training services to the industry, government and civil entities to positively impact society.
Design is inherently applied and human-centered, hence the establishment of SD Plus is a corresponding strategy of the School of Design, which aims to facilitate industry and public engagement, bring innovative ideas from laboratory to reality, thereby driving commercial success and generating meaningful impact to the society.
In order to achieve its strategic goals and exert a positive impact on the socio-cultural realm of business, SD Plus leverages its design expertise and industry networks to collaborate with academic experts from the School’s research centres and design labs.

Vision

To be the premier applied research and design innovation centre in the region, fostering productive interchange between cutting-edge design research at PolyU and best practices from industry partners.

Mission

To provide the best PolyU research and design strengths to the industry, government and civil society, fostering knowledge transfer focusing on collaborative research, contract consultancy, and intrapreneurship training to positively impact the region.

Design is inherently practice-based and human-centred. We are committed to applying research breakthroughs to transform design ideas into real-world industrial solutions and social innovations, thereby shaping better living environments and enhancing human experiences.
