Biography
Prof. Karen Liu is an occupational therapy researcher specialising in rehabilitation strategies for neurological and geriatric populations. She integrates cognitive approaches—such as mental imagery and self-regulation—into therapy to improve outcomes for individuals with stroke, dementia, and other neurological conditions. Prof. Liu is also dedicated to caregiver education, developing tools and training to empower those supporting patients. Her interdisciplinary research bridges occupational therapy, cognitive science, and client and caregiver support, aiming to enhance quality of life and inform evidence-based clinical practice. Prof. Liu is a Fellow of the Occupational Therapy Australia Research Academy (FOTARA).
