Biography

Daphne earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from The Ohio State University, USA, and her Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) from Boston University. She is a registered occupational therapist in Hong Kong and California, USA, with over 20 years of experience in paediatric and school-based occupational therapy across both regions. Her practice focuses on supporting children with diverse developmental and learning needs.

Daphne’s clinical expertise spans sensory integration therapy, neurodevelopmental approaches, postural management, feeding interventions, and adaptive technology. In recent years, she has emphasized neurodiversity-affirming practices and mental health promotion, integrating them into family-centred, evidence-based interventions.

Before joining The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Daphne served as a Senior Occupational Therapist at one of the international special schools here in Hong Kong, where she co-developed therapy service pathways and collaborated on inclusive curriculum design. She has also worked in early childhood education centres and public-school systems in the United States, providing assessment, intervention, and consultation services.

Her doctoral project focused on sleep health education for autistic children, reflecting her commitment to holistic well-being. Her professional interests include sensory processing, assistive technology, and strategies to enhance participation and learning for children with special educational needs.

As Professor of Practice, Daphne aims to bridge clinical expertise with academic training, fostering innovation and excellence in occupational therapy education. Her vision is to advance practice-based education and interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating primary care principles to ensure inclusive, evidence-informed services that meet the evolving needs of families and communities.
