刘汇文教授现任香港理工大学康复治疗科学系职业治疗学副教授。他的多学科研究融汇了神经解剖学、生物心理学和康复科学，主要聚焦于情绪、社会行为和精神疾病背后的生物学机制。他深入探讨压力、电子烟使用和环境影响等生活方式因素如何影响情绪健康，并特别关注神经发生、神经可塑性、内分泌学和转录组学表达。
刘教授亦在康复科学领域开展转化研究，包括识别人体样本中的生物标志物以反映健康状况，以及开发创新的康复技术，如3D打印和虚拟现实。他发表了大量学术论文，并担任《科学报告》（Scientific Reports）和《香港职业治疗学报》（HKJOT）编辑委员会成员，并与英国、澳洲、加拿大、西班牙及美国的学者建立并维持国际合作关系。
除研究外，刘教授亦致力于教学工作，教授人体解剖学、精神疾病、神经科学和研究方法等课程。他将「翻转课堂」(Flipped Classroom)、数字工具和沉浸式技术融入教学实践中，并曾荣获了包括QS Reimagine教学奖在内的团队教学奖项。他指导了众多研究生、硕士生和本科生项目，并珍视透过研究支持学生成长的机会。
