Prof. Hodges is a recognised world leader in research in movement control, pain and rehabilitation. He is an NRMRC Leadership Fellow (Level 3), Director of the Centre for Innovation in Pain and Health Research, and Director of Research at The University of Queensland’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Standardised Citation Indicators ranks him in the top 0.05% of SCIENTISTS globally, the top PHYSIO researcher globally and Australia’s top PAIN researcher.   Prof. Hodges’s unique and comprehensive research blends basic science (molecular biology to neuroscience) with applied human research and rehabilitation. His multidisciplinary team led discoveries that transformed understanding of mechanisms for pain persistence, recurrence and progression, and translated into effective pain treatments in clinical practice. His research led to a new field of research in Motor Control and Pain with citations by over 80 countries worldwide and more than 260 clinical trials globally. Prof. Hodges is the leading investigator of numerous prestigious research grants nationally and internationally. He has current grant fundings of $AUD33 million with a career total of $AUD82.7 million.
