Dr PU Junhong is a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Fashion and Textiles and a member of the Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), since 2023. Before this role, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at PolyU (2022–2023), and earned the PolyU Distinguished Postdoc Award. Dr PU earned his Ph.D. in 2021 and B.E. in 2016 from Sichuan University, and studied as a joint Ph.D. at UCLA from 2019 to 2021. Dr PU’s research integrates polymer physics, textile engineering, and mechanical engineering to develop soft, functional materials, smart fibers and soft actuators with transformative applications in soft robotics, wearable haptics, and smart textiles. He has published over 30 high-impact papers in top-tier journals such as Nature, Science, Science Advances, Joule and Advanced Materials.
