President's Welcome 2026

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) hosts its annual President’s Welcome in late August.

Prof. Jin-Guang TENG, President of PolyU, will welcome all freshmen to the PolyU family and introduce the University’s rich history and its mission to nurture socially responsible professionals and leaders with a strong sense of national pride and a global perspective. It will also feature a variety of sharing and performance sessions.

Orientation Showcase 2026

Following the President's Welcome on 28 August 2026, the excitement continues at the Orientation Showcase on 1 September 2026 at the Shaw Sports Complex.

The event will feature over 45 booths organised by various administrative units, student-led clubs and societies. It offers a wonderful opportunity for new students to explore PolyU's diverse support services, co-curricular activities, and campus life, while interacting with staff and senior students – helping you gear up for an amazing PolyU journey.

Annual Talent Show 2026

Get ready for an inspiring evening of creativity, energy, and celebration at the Talent Show, proudly presented by PolyU STARS Residential Colleges part of PolyU Student Orientation 2026. You are warmly invited to join us at the Jockey Club Auditorium to celebrate the vibrant spirit of talent development at PolyU. The grand show will feature a diverse showcase of performances by talented student artists. Typhoon Signal No. 1 or 3 / Amber or Red Rainstorm Warning	Unless otherwise notified, all activities will be held as scheduled.
Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above / Black Rainstorm Warning / “Extreme Conditions”	If the signal is lowered / the warning or “extreme conditions” are cancelled before 06.30 AM	The orientation activities will be held as scheduled.
	If the signal / warning / “extreme conditions” are hoisted or in force at or after 06.30 AM	The orientation activities will be rescheduled to take place from 05.00 PM to 06.15 PM on the contingency day.
Arrangements for activities ALREADY started	Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above / “Extreme Conditions”	Arrangements will be made to release students as soon as possible.
	Black Rainstorm Warning	As advised by the Government, people should take shelter in a safe place when the Black Rainstorm Warning is in force. Activities will continue unless otherwise announced. If the warning is still in force when the activities end, students are advised to stay on campus for their own safety until the warning has been cancelled or the traffic conditions have improved.
	Students should contact the Campus Control Centre at +852 2766 7666 for assistance when necessary.
