On 31 August 2026, Mr Chen Jun, Vice Mayor of Yangzhou, led a delegation from the Yangzhou Municipal People’s Government on a visit to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).
The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, PolyU President; Prof. Cao Jiannong, Vice President (Education); Prof. Yu Hongyu, Executive Director of the PolyU Aerospace Research Academy; Prof. Wen-Hua Chen, Head of the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering; Prof. Liu Ai-Qun, Director of the Research Institute for Quantum Technology; Prof. Simon Lee, Associate Director of the PolyU-Wuxi Technology and Innovation Research Institute; and Prof. Lu Haitian, Director of Mainland Development. The two sides exchanged views on aviation talent development, academic exchange and frontier research collaboration.
During the visit, the delegation first met with representatives of the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering (AAE). Prof. Wen-Hua Chen, Head of AAE, introduced the Department’s latest developments in teaching and research, while Vice Mayor Chen Jun shared an overview of Yangzhou’s development. The two sides also explored potential collaboration in aviation education and research.
Following the meeting, the delegation toured the Aviation Services Research Centre (ASRC), the Aviation Engineering Laboratory and the University Gallery to learn more about PolyU’s development and achievements.
The visit enhanced mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in aviation and related frontier disciplines.
