On 25 March 2026, a delegation from the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Fuwai Hospital) visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The two institutions officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish deep cooperation in interdisciplinary education, joint talent cultivation, collaborative scientific research, and knowledge transfer. This partnership integrates PolyU’s comprehensive interdisciplinary system with Fuwai Hospital’s world-class clinical resources to drive advancements in lifestyle medicine, fostering an “Medicine-Research-Industry” integration model that contributes to the "Healthy China" initiative.

Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, President of PolyU, and Prof. Wing-tak Wong, Deputy President and Provost, led the PolyU representatives in warmly receiving the delegation. Prior to the signing ceremony, both parties held a high-level meeting to explore future strategic collaborations.

The visit featured a highly productive itinerary. On the morning of 25 March, organized by the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences (FHSS), a thematic symposium on Lifestyle Medicine was held. Experts and scholars from various units participated, including the PolyU Academy for Artificial Intelligence (PAAI), Department of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems (IWEAR), Department of Health Technology and Informatics, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Nursing, Department of Applied Social Sciences and School of Optometry.

On the morning of 26 March, the delegation toured various PolyU laboratories and facilities, including the Cave Automatic Virtual Environment, the Biomarker Discovery Laboratory (under University Research Facility in Life Science), the Food Science and Nutrition Research Laboratory and Demo Kitchen, the Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology Laboratory, the ReST Hub, and the Optometry Clinic. These visits provided the delegation with a firsthand look at PolyU’s robust R&D capabilities, technical expertise, and advanced experimental facilities across diverse fields.
