The Hangzhou Regional Base was PolyU's first development base in the Chinese mainland. Located on the Zhejiang University campus, it was established in 1997 as Zhejiang University-The Hong Kong Polytechnic University International Executive Development Centre to provide a wide range of PolyU award-bearing programmes from Bachelor to Doctoral level. It currently has more than 3,400 alumni.
The Centre was renamed in 2015 as Zhejiang University-The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Joint Centre. It has since taken on new missions in the areas of joint development of disciplines, research cooperation, joint training, student development and alumni interaction. The regional base also supports and assists PolyU students, staff, and other stakeholders. Its projects and activities include student recruitment, student enrichment, and internships.
