Red Hat had made an important announcement regarding CentOS Linux 7, informing users that it will reach its end of life (EOL) on 30 June 2024. CentOS Linux 7 will no longer receive security updates or critical bug fixes by then.

This EOL announcement is significant because it marks a shift in the CentOS Project's focus. The project has decided to prioritize CentOS Stream over CentOS Linux. To ensure the continued security and performance of those servers affected, it is of vital importance to take action at your earliest convenience.

  • Migrate & upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
  • Migrate your CentOS Linux server to University Cloud Services (UCS), an option that offers increased scalability, flexibility, and security. Please contact ITS at cloudrent@polyu.edu.hk for more information and discussion. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is supported image and available on UCS.

 

Act now to safeguard the security and performance of your servers even before CentOS Linux 7 reaches its end of life. It is essential to act promptly to mitigate any potential risks and ensure a smooth transition to a supported and reliable operating system.
