Summary:
The AI Tutoring System (AITU) is a web-based platform designed for PolyU students to support self-paced, AI-guided learning.
Through Study Mode (Guided Learning), the AI uses Socratic dialogue—asking guiding questions and offering hints—to help students think critically and understand core concepts step-by-step.
For instructors, AITU provides insights into student engagement and learning progress, helping identify common difficulties to guide classroom discussions. This makes it ideal for a flipped classroom approach.
This workshop introduces AITU’s key features, demonstrating how to:
- Create learning units and upload course materials
- Prepare exercise questions and configure the AI Tutor
- Review student engagement and leverage insights for flipped classroom activities
Objective:
This workshop aims to familiarize participants with the AITU platform and demonstrate how it can support self-paced, AI-guided learning and flipped classroom teaching. Participants will learn how to access and navigate the platform, create and manage learning units, provide course materials and exercise questions, configure the AI Tutor’s behaviour, and review student engagement. They will also learn how to identify common questions and learning difficulties and use these insights to plan effective follow-up discussions and activities in class.
