Organised by Clarivate, the China InCites Forum was held on 27 to 29 May 2026 in Nanjing, with the theme “Breaking Through and Upgrading Quality: AI-Driven Discipline Construction”. The Forum convened around 350 experts and professionals from universities and research institutes across China, providing a dynamic platform for in-depth exchange on high-quality discipline development empowered by artificial intelligence.

Mr Charles Cheng, Section Head of IPAO, delivered a presentation titled “Leveraging Research Data to Advance Discipline Development”. Drawing on the 2025 PolyU Research Excellence Report, co-published by PolyU and Clarivate, he highlighted how a global, data-driven approach has been used to systematically present PolyU research achievements and performance from 2020 to 2024, using a comprehensive set of indicators, including global rankings, research output, knowledge transfer and societal impact, demonstrating the University’s strengths in advancing research excellence.
The IPAO team also visited the PolyU-Nanjing Technology and Innovation Research Institute. Established in July 2024, the Institute comprises four research centres focusing on intelligent robotics and mechatronics, artificial intelligence of things innovation, intelligent construction and vision health innovation. The team gained insights into how the Institute strategically aligns the University’s research strengths with local industrial and societal needs, translating research into targeted solutions that contribute to Nanjing’s development.
