Fire Safety Management for Facade Repair & Enhancement Works of Block M

Cover Story

Fire safety remains one of PolyU’s top priorities, especially during large‑scale construction and renovation projects. The ongoing external wall enhancement works at the Li Ka Shing Building (Block M) involve full-height enclosed metal scaffolding, hot‑work activities such as gas welding or flame cutting, temporary electrical installations, and onsite material storage — conditions that may elevate fire risks if not carefully managed. To ensure a safe working environment for both workers and building occupants, CFSO, HSO, and the appointed contractor have jointly developed and implemented a comprehensive fire safety management plan.
