We were proudly to take part in the Chemical Safety and Security Month organized by the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU). As part of this important initiative, ICTU representatives visited the PolyU campus, where they engaged with staff and students to promote awareness of chemical safety and counter-terrorism preparedness. The visit included informative briefings and the distribution of themed souvenirs, all designed to reinforce the importance of vigilance and safe chemical handling practices in academic and research settings.
A key highlight of the month was the chemical drill hosted by HKUST on 28 September 2025, coordinated by ICTU with support from the Hong Kong Police Force and Fire Services Department. Our HSO team observed the exercise and gained valuable insights into emergency response procedures, evacuation protocols, and inter-agency coordination in managing chemical spills. The drill underscored the university’s ongoing commitment to safety and strengthened collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.
