Updated information on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) — To refrain from going out unnecessarily

With the approach of the Easter holidays, members of the public should continue to refrain from going out unnecessarily in light of the current severe epidemic situation.

The Government has extended measures regulating catering business premises, scheduled premises and prohibiting group gatherings, and issued new direction on the closures of beauty parlours and massage establishments. The effective period of all the aforementioned requirements will be standardised to take effect for 14 days from 0.00am on April 10 till April 23 in an attempt to curb local transmission. A summary is at Annex.

Contravening the above requirements would be a criminal offence. Offenders are subject to fines and imprisonment. The Government reminds the public to strictly comply with the regulations, enhance social distancing and prevent mass gatherings with concerted efforts. The Government has been reviewing the feasibility of relevant measures and will make adjustments on a timely basis in view of the latest development of the disease.
