Your safety starts with one simple action: proper needle disposal!
Needlestick injuries are among the most common accidents in laboratories and healthcare settings. They can happen in an instant—and the consequences could be serious, including exposure to infectious agents.
Improper disposal, such as placing used needles in domestic rubbish bins, poses a hidden danger to cleaning workers and waste handlers, who may be unknowingly exposed to injury and infection.

🌟 Smart Disposal Tips
✓ Use a designated sharps box: Always dispose of needles in an approved, puncture-resistant container.
✓ Dispose entire syringe with needle: Dispose of the entire syringe with needle directly into the sharps box. If removal of needle is necessary, use the box’s hands-free feature to minimize contact.
✓ Drop, don’t touch or twist: Allow the needle to fall into the container without handling or manipulating it.
✓ Seal and replace at ¾ full: Close and replace the sharps box when it reaches three-quarters capacity to prevent overfilling and accidental exposure.

| ⚠️ What NOT to Do
❌Do NOT recap used needles: Recapping increases the risk of accidental puncture.
❌Do NOT remove needles if they are contaminated or potentially infectious: Always dispose of the entire syringe with needle directly into the sharps box to avoid exposure.
❌Do NOT reach into the sharps box: Never attempt to retrieve items from the container.
❌Do NOT overfill the container: Overfilled boxes increase the risk of injury.
❌Do NOT leave the lid open: Always keep the container securely closed when not in use.
