Stay Cool, Stay Safe: Preventing Heat Stroke This Summer

We - Update

Promotion of Heat Stress PreventionAs the hot and humid summer approaches, the risk of heat stroke becomes a serious concern—especially for those working in environments without air conditioning or near heat sources.

The Health and Safety Office is committed to promoting heat stroke prevention through a range of initiatives. In past years, we’ve raised awareness by distributing informative posters and hosting seminars and talks to educate staff on the dangers of heat stroke and how to stay safe.

This year, we’ve taken it a step further by distributing cooling towels to contractor workers. These towels, provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC), offer instant relief and help reduce the risk of overheating during outdoor or high-temperature tasks.

As temperatures rise, it’s important for everyone to take simple but effective precautions:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking water regularly.
  • Take breaks in shaded or cool areas.
  • Wear lightweight, breathable clothing.
  • Use sun protection like hats and sunscreen when working outdoors.
