Safety Tips for Fire Escape Routes

We - Share

Safety Tips for Fire Escape RoutesIn the event of a fire alarm, staff and students should:

  • Follow Exit Signs: Use signs to find the nearest fire staircase and exit door.
  • Use Designated Fire Staircases: Use staircases marked with an EXIT sign. Descend if above ground, ascend if in the basement. Do not exit a fire staircase midway.
  • Avoid Non-Designated Exits: Do not use unmarked staircases or doors; they are not safe for fire escape.

To familiarize yourself with the fire escape routes in a building, take the time to walk through them or read the fire escape route plan if provided. Participate in fire drills whenever they occur to ensure you are well-acquainted with the routes.
