New Smart Cards for Enhancing Campus Security
For better security, the Information Technology Services Office has conducted a “Physical Access Control Infrastructure Project” to upgrade the access control system including all relevant card readers on campus. In this connection, new smart cards with brand new designs are now available for collection by Emeritus Professors and Long Serving Retirees (and their spouses), at the reception counter of the Human Resources Office during office hours by presenting their old cards.
While the old cards cannot be used to pass through the turnstiles at campus entrances after 31 December 2022, holders may still gain campus access by presenting the old cards to security staff at the entrances beyond this date (for a certain grace period, which may cease at the University’s discretion). It is strongly advisable for holders of the old cards to collect the new cards as soon as practicable.
