Visa and Identity Card

Apart from those with the right of abode, people may enter Hong Kong after obtaining a valid visa or entry permit through different entry schemes.  More information about such entry to Hong Kong is available at http://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/index.html.

Hong Kong residents at the age of 11 or above are required to register for an identity card, unless exempted or excluded according to the law.  Currently Hong Kong Identity Cards are smart cards with an integrated circuit that stores and processes data.  More information about Hong Kong Identity Cards and the application procedures is available at http://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/hkid.html.
