Launched in 2011, Micro Fund (MF) is the first funding initiative to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial ambience in the PolyU community and to promote knowledge transfer and commercialisation of PolyU’s innovations and technologies. 

With funding and support up to HK$1.41 million from PolyU and HKSTP Ideation and Incubation Programmes, the funding scheme aims to bolster PolyU early-stage start-ups with high-quality business propositions and social impact.


Funding Stage:
Micro Fund is a seeding stage funding programme for teams that are either preparing to establish a start-up or have incorporated a company within 24 months of the application deadline

 

Calling For:
Innovative technology solutions with viable business models to create industry and/or social impact

 

Grant:

1st Assessment (Elevator Pitch):

Eligible Shortlisted Teams

  • HK$20,000 Cash Prize from PolyU
  • Conditional offer of admission to HKSTP Ideation Programme (up to HK$100,000), subject to HKSTP's discretion

Eligible Shortlisted Teams (Top Performers)  

  • HK$20,000 Cash Prize from PolyU
  • Lean Launchpad Programme (LLP) for market validation

 

2nd Assessment (Final Presentation):

Eligible Awardees

  • HK$100,000 Seed Fund from PolyU
  • Conditional offer of admission to HKSTP Incubation Programme (up to HK$1.29 million), subject to HKSTP's discretion

Eligible Shortlisted Teams (Top Performers)

  • Conditional offer of admission to HKSTP Ideation Programme (up to HK$100,000), subject to HKSTP's discretion

 

Pre-incubation Support:

  • Mentorships and other pre-incubation support (ALL Shortlisted Teams)

 

Notes:

  1. The Online Briefing Session will be conducted online via ZOOM. Successful registrants will receive a confirmation email with the web link and password for the briefing session. 
  2. This briefing session will be recorded for the purpose of keeping internal record and the recording may be made available to the Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office (KTEO) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University only. The recorded images will be handled by KTEO according to the prevailing policy of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Enquiries shall be addressed to Micro Fund by email at micro.fund@polyu.edu.hk.
