Ode to Joy – Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 Concert

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is the masterpiece of the composer and probably is the most popular classical music in the world. The choral finale, Ode to Joy, was widely performed in various versions, such as the Anthem of Europe.

 

Mr Leung Kin-fung, Artist-in-Residence 2022-2023, will lead the PolyU Orchestra with star-studded musicians to perform the whole symphony on campus for a stunning concert. More than 180 members of the PolyU Orchestra, PolyU Choir and Opera Hong Kong Chorus will be performing the Symphony No. 9 with renowned vocal soloists Dr Julia Chen, soprano and Director of Educational Development Centre of PolyU, Ms Bobbie Zhang, Mezzo-soprano, Mr Alex Tam, Tenor and Conductor of PolyU Choir and Opera Hong Kong Chorus, and Mr Apollo Wong, Bass-baritone. Talented young pianist Wong Ka-jeng is also invited to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C, K. 467 with the PolyU Orchestra in the concert.
