On September 13, 2026, Prof. Guang Meng from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Prof. Yuan-Feng Duan from Zhejiang University, and Prof. Yi-Qing Ni and Dr. Xiu-Yu Chen from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University held a discussion on the progress achieved in the TRS project and its future research activities. During the meeting, Prof. Yi-Qing Ni presented the major progress and interim outcomes of the project from three perspectives: global-scale climate evolution and its underlying mechanisms; urban-scale wind-field observation and simulation, together with building response monitoring; and meteorological forecasting and Intelligent tropical-storm-resilient systems. Prof. Guang Meng subsequently engaged in an in-depth discussion with Prof. Yi-Qing Ni on several key aspects, including the development of flexible sensors, the collection and management of satellite and meteorological monitoring data in Hong Kong, and the development of a digital twin platform for the Northern Metropolis of Hong Kong. The participating experts further discussed the research priorities and implementation strategies for the next stage of the project in light of its research objectives and current progress, and provided targeted comments and recommendations.
