On 7 September 2026, a delegation from CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. visited the National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technology Research Center (Hong Kong Branch) (CNERC-Rail) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) for an exchange.
The delegation included Mr. Peng Li, Deputy Head of the Science and Technology Development Department; Mr. Jin-Feng Zhao, General Manager of the Hong Kong Branch of the Singapore Company; Mr. Heng-Kui Li, Head of the Major Projects Office; Mr. Jia-Lin Cao, Head of the Technical Exchange and Cooperation Division; Mr. Chuan-Ying Li, Principal Engineer; Mr. Jian Wu, Senior Supervising Engineer; and Wen-Wen Jiang, Assistant. Prof. Yi-Qing Ni, Director of the National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technology Research Center (Hong Kong Branch) and Chair Professor of Smart Structures and Rail Transit, together with Dr. Vincent Wai Kei Ao, Dr. Wen-Qiang Liu, Dr. Xian-Hua Yao, Dr. Xiao Wang, and Ms. Xin-Yue Xu, attended the exchange.
During the meeting, the delegation introduced the preparation progress of the 5th International Railway Vehicle Industrial Design Symposium (RVID2026) and the International Train Design Competition. Discussions were also held on inviting PolyU to serve as a co-organizer of RVID2026, inviting Prof. Yi-Qing Ni and his team to attend the symposium, and inviting Prof. Yi-Qing Ni to serve as a judge for the Intelligent Solutions Track of the International Train Design Competition. Both parties also exchanged views on the research directions and achievements of Prof. Yi-Qing Ni’s team, as well as potential future cooperation in academic exchange, research collaboration, and talent development.
The exchange further enhanced mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in rail transit research, talent development, and academic exchange.
