Successful EU grant application for the CoBra project (“Conversational Brains 腦與腦的對話”)

Congratulations to Chair Professor, Prof. Huang Chu-ren, for being awarded a highly competitive and prestigious EU grant (EU H2020, 36 months, €3,993,244, led by Prof. Noël Nguyen of LPL-CRNS and Aix-Marseille University). This Innovative Training Network (ITN) project consists of a consortium of 15 members: 9 formal members, and 6 partner organizations. PolyU is the only non-EU partner. Read more

Congratulations to Mr Corey Wang 王宇翔 on winning the first runner-up award at the 2018 National Essay Writing Contest (「品書知日本」2018徴文大賽)

Congratulations to Mr Corey Wang王宇翔 for winning the first runner-up award at the 2018 National Essay Writing Contest (「品書知日本」2018徴文大賽) organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Library and The Japan Science Society! Participants were asked to submit a short piece of writing on a topic related to Japan. Mr Wang, a student of the Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC), received the award for his excellent essay titled “Asian integration and Tenshin Okakura.” The winners, including Mr Wang, were invited to attend an award presentation ceremony held in Shanghai in December 2018. Mr Wang is also the winner of the 2018 PolyU Japan-themed Essay Writing Contest organized jointly by Pao Yue-kong Library and the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies. Read more

Our Master of Speech Therapy (MST) Programme received full endorsement by the Hong Kong Institute of Speech Therapists (HKIST)

The MST programme was first launched 5 years ago in September 2013 with our first cohort of students. It was with a lot of hard work that MST came to fruition. We are very pleased to report that our programme completed a 2-day Institutional-based Assessment Visit by the Hong Kong Institute of Speech Therapists (HKIST) in April 2018. Our programme received very positive comments from our panel, and we have just been informed that the programme met all the standards required in this assessment. Read more

CBS Scholar was bestowed the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters by the University of Chicago

Congratulations to Prof. William S-Y. Wang (王士元教授), Chair Professor of the Department of Chinese & Bilingual Studies (CBS), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU), on receiving the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Chicago.  Being one of the five honorary degree recipients who are pioneers in different professional disciplines from around the world, Prof. Wang is recognized for his tremendous contributions to the studies of language evolution and the emergence of new languages. Prof. Wang received the honorary degree at the convocation of the University of Chicago on 9 June 2018.   Read more
