Programme Structure and Content

This is a 2-year professional programme designed to prepare the students to become competent physiotherapists at the entry level. The programme involves university-based study and clinical education at hospitals, rehabilitation centres, special schools and institutions.

Foundation Subjects

Functional Anatomy, Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Movement Science, Exercise Science, Clinical Neuroscience and Neurology, Research Methods and Statistics, Human Development across Lifespan, and Rehabilitation Psychology

Professional Subjects

Professional Ethics and Legal Issues, Principles of Physiotherapy Practice, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy I and II, Manipulative Physiotherapy, Electrophysical Therapy I and II, Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, Neurological Physiotherapy I and II, Pediatric Neurology and Developmental Disabilities, Administration and Management, and Primary Health and Community Care

Research Project

Students form small groups and work under the guidance of an assigned faculty member to conduct a specific research project, which involves the review of relevant scientific literature, data collection and analysis, and a report of research findings.

Clinical Education

Students complete 6 clinical placements in 30 weeks (a minimum of 1,000 hours) during the 2-year programme, comprising 8-week clinical placements in different community rehabilitation settings to better prepare them to work in these settings
upon graduation.
