Prof. LIANG Hualou is the Sin Wai Kin Foundation Professor in Humanities and Technology and Chair Professor of Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He also serves as Interim Head of the Division of Artificial Intelligence and the Humanities (AIH) and Associate Director of the University Research Facility in Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience (UBSN).
Prof. Liang’s research interests focus on neural data science, machine learning, and biomedical natural language processing. He is known for pioneering the application of causal functional connectivity measures, particularly Granger causality, to the analysis of complex, high-dimensional neuroscience data.
Through RISA, Prof. Liang aims to collaborate with fellow members to advance research on spoken language processing for healthcare and develop large language models (LLMs) for dementia prediction.
