Biography

Prof. LIANG Hualou is the Chair Professor at the Department of Language Science and Technology (LST), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He is also the Associate Director of the University Research Facility in Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience (UBSN).

Prof. Liang's research interests focus on neural data science, machine learning, and biomedical natural language processing. He is known for pioneering the application of causal functional connectivity measures, particularly Granger causality, to the analysis of complex, high-dimensional neuroscience data.

By joining RISA, Prof. Liang strived to establish collaboration with members in advancing research of spoken language processing for healthcare and the development of large language models (LLMs) for dementia prediction.
