Biography

Dr Tao Hua (華濤) is currently an Associate Professor in Institute of Textiles and Clothing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Davis, USA in 1998. Prior to joining ITC, he was an Associate Professor at Jiangnan University in China and then a Research Fellow at ITC of PolyU. He has rich teaching and research experience in textile materials and technologies. He has published more than 120 journal papers, conference proceedings and patents. His recent work on flexible and wearble sensors and energy devices has been published in leading material, sensor and energy journals such as Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Materials, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Small, Nano Research, Carbon and Journal of Power Sources. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Member of Textile Institute, Member of The Fiber Society, Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Textile and Apparel and Consulting Editor (Weaving Technology) of Textile Asia. He received First Class Award of Science and Technology by the China National Textile and Apparel Council in 2009 and China Innovation Achievement Award by the National Industry, Academia and Research Innovation Society in 2014. He has recently won the Early Career Award (香港 [2016/2017年度杰青学者奖], Top 3% ) granted by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) in 2016/17 in recognition of his excellent research performance.
