Photonic crystal membrane cavities for optical sensing and gas analysis systems

Abstract

We report here monocrystalline silicon photonic crystal nanomembrane based optical waveguides and photonic crystals transferred onto low cost glass and flexible polymer substrates. Based on Fano resonance principles, high performance optical sensors were designed and demonstrated for liquid sensing and gas analysis. The integration of photonic crystal sources and detectors will also be discussed.
