Prof. WONG Ka-hing, Director of Research Institute for Future Food (RiFood), was featured on Now TV's “Medicine Online” programme to introduce RiFood's research and development of bio-fortification technology for precision hydroponics.
In the interview, Prof. Wong shared how hydroponic cultivation can be leveraged to enhance the levels of essential nutrients, including calcium, iron, and iodine, in commonly consumed vegetables, helping to address nutrient deficiencies among the Hong Kong population while supporting the development of high-nutrient-value crops.
This innovative research showcases how food science and agricultural technologies can work together to enhance nutritional health, strengthen local food production, and contribute to a more sustainable food system.
