Sustainable Catalysis Forum - Advancing sustainable catalysis for hydrogen chemistry

On 9 March 2025, the RC-CSC member, Prof. Lo Tsz Woon Benedict organized the “Sustainable Catalysis Forum - Advancing sustainable catalysis for hydrogen chemistry” in PolyU. This international conference focuses on Advancing sustainable catalysis for hydrogen chemistry by inviting mainland frontier scientists. We have invited 8 most impactful scientists in hydrogen catalysis research. This event brings together leading researchers from mainland universities to explore the pivotal role of catalysis in shaping the future of hydrogen-based technologies. As the world moves toward cleaner energy solutions, hydrogen stands out as a cornerstone for decarbonization, with sustainable catalytic processes at its heart. This seminar will explore cutting-edge advancements in catalyst design, efficiency, and scalability, addressing challenges and opportunities in hydrogen production, storage, and utilization. Leading experts in relevant fields shared cutting-edge research and valuable insights on carbon strategy-related topics during the forum on advancing sustainable catalysis for hydrogen chemistry. Attendees engaged in thought-provoking discussions shared novel insights, and collaborated on strategies to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen solutions. The forum successfully fostered interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and communication aimed at advancing carbon neutrality goals.

The 2nd Carbon-Strategic Catalysis International Conference successfully held on 30th and 31st March 2024

During 30-31 March 2024, RC-CSC has arranged the “2nd Carbon-Strategic Catalysis International Conference” in PolyU. This international conference focuses on carbon-strategic catalysis and energy research by inviting global frontier scientists. We have invited 5 Members of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), 2 Fellows of the Australian Academy of Science as well as 17 most impactful scientists in catalysis research. Leading experts in various fields have presented their cutting-edge research and valuable insights into carbon strategy-related studies at this conference. During the conference, esteemed scientists from Australia, Mainland China, and Hong Kong gathered at PolyU to deliver inspiring talks and share their expertise. This two-day event attracted over 400 attendees and facilitated active communication and discussion among the invited speakers. Throughout the conference, the speakers presented their cutting-edge research in the fields of energy and catalysis within the Carbon-Strategic framework. They also proposed innovative strategies to further advance the goal of carbon neutrality, providing valuable insights and suggestions for future developments in this area. The conference has been highly successful in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and communication toward achieving carbon neutrality. The First Round Table Conference of Virtual Science and Technology Innovation

RC-CSC not only arranged international conferences but also actively contributed to the future developments of science and technology innovations in Hong Kong. RC-CSC has invited Dr. Xu Guangchen (Director of Physical Sciences, Wiley China) to co-arrange the “The First Round Table Conference of Virtual Science and Technology Innovation” in Harbour Plaza Metropolis, Hung Hom on 12 October 2023. This round table conference has invited over 25 senior scientists and young researchers from local universities as the advisory board members to discuss the feasibility of virtual science and technology innovations. In particular, all the invited scientists have actively shared their opinions and comments on the development direction of applying advanced AI and big data technologies to establish the virtual science and technology innovation center with multi-functions of research publications, research communications, and research transfer activities. Moreover, the conference also discussed the establishment of a digital laboratory in Hong Kong to accelerate experimental research and promote data sharing/exchange through the novel virtual research platform. This conference has supplied very important and insightful opinions from the advisory board, which has laid a solid foundation for the development of science and technology innovation in Hong Kong.

1st Carbon-Strategic Catalysis International Conference cum Inauguration Ceremony of Research Centre for Carbon-Strategic Catalysis (RC-CSC)

During 19-20 February 2023, RC-CSC arranged the “1st Carbon-Strategic Catalysis International Conference cum Inauguration Ceremony of Research Centre for Carbon-Strategic Catalysis” in PolyU. This international conference focuses on carbon-strategic catalysis and energy research by inviting global frontier scientists. We have invited 3 Members of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), 2 Fellows of the Australian Academy of Science as well as four most impactful scientists in catalysis research. This conference has attracted over 200 attendees to join from onsite and online platforms from all over the world. These frontier scientists in related fields have shared their advanced research and insightful opinions on carbon strategic-related research. This conference has attracted over 100 researchers, postgraduate students, and undergraduate students from different universities to join this conference on-site in PolyU. In the meantime, over 150 global scientists and researchers have joined this conference from the online platform. This conference has achieved great success in promoting interdisciplinary collaborations, innovation, and communication for the carbon neutrality goal, which not only reveals the good recognition of the RC-CSC but also further increases the academic impact of PolyU.
