Under the bright moon, the PolyU campus was transformed into a vibrant hub of festivity and tradition as around 10,000 members of the PolyU community gathered for the Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, a highlight of the PolyU Chinese Culture Festival. Centred at University Square and extending across the campus, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as students, staff, alumni, and their families enjoyed an enchanting evening celebrating unity and the rich heritage of Chinese culture.

The Gala began with an opening ceremony, where PolyU Council Chairman Dr Lam Tai-fai, President Professor Jin-Guang Teng, and senior management extended warm blessings to all attendees. Their warm exchanges with PolyU members around the campus filled the night with camaraderie and joy.

Dazzling light projections illuminated campus buildings, creating a magical atmosphere. Spectacular performances, lucky draws, traditional delicacies, and immersive cultural experiences brought the community together in the spirit of reunion. The PolyU SAO Chinese Orchestra and talented students from various faculties and schools delivered mesmerising music and dance performances, captivating the audience.

Beyond the stage, the campus was adorned with colourful lanterns, fun riddles, and exhibition boards introducing the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Guests indulged in festive treats, including innovative mooncakes made with AkkMore™, a novel fungus-based fat replacer developed by PolyU’s Research Institute for Future Food (RiFood) and the Department of Food Science and Nutrition. These mooncakes not only delighted taste buds but also promoted health by effectively preventing obesity and enhancing gut health.
