With China continuing to strengthen its position on the global stage, understanding its foreign policy has become increasingly crucial. As a highlight of the PolyU Chinese Culture Festival, the University is proud to welcome two distinguished Ambassadors from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to offer expert insights and firsthand diplomatic experiences during an exclusive seminar on 30 October 2025. This rare opportunity provides a deeper look into China’s evolving role in global affairs and its dynamic relationship with Africa.

 

Join us for the thematic seminar “Exploring the Theory and Practice in China’s Diplomacy”, featuring:

 

  • Ambassador Luo Linquan, Vice President of the China Public Diplomacy Association, former Director-General of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China in the Hellenic Republic and in Ireland, and Consul General (Ambassadorial Rank) of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco, who will offer first-hand insights into diplomacy and foreign affairs.

  • Ambassador Sun Gongyi, former Director-General level Counsellor of the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Mauritius, who will discuss the theory and practice behind building a “China-Africa Community with a Shared Future”.

The seminar will take place on 30 October 2025 (Thursday), from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre on the PolyU campus. It will be conducted in Putonghua.
