As we march towards the Grand Finale of PolyU’s 85th Anniversary celebrations, a series of signature programmes will be held on campus in late November to mark our significant milestone. 

 

The PolyU 85th Anniversary Grand Concert in the evening of 21 November will be directed by internationally renowned musician Mr Leung Kin-fung. The concert will feature a dazzling lineup of world-class musicians and talented artists, including renowned Hong Kong artist Dr Liza Wang Ming-chun, world-renowned violinist Ms Yao Jue, virtuoso of guzheng Dr Lunlun Zou, Steinway artist Dr Vivian Cheng Wai, renowned singer Ms Sophie Chen, erhu master Mr Guo Gan, as well as aspiring music talents from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the PolyU community – PolyU Orchestra, PolyU Choir and the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations Chinese Orchestra. 

 

Coming next, on 22 November, will be a lecture in the “Together We Dream, We Fly” public lecture series. Ms Guo Jingjing, former national team diver and Olympic Gold Medalist at the Athens and Beijing Games, will speak on the theme of “Splashing for Lights, Chasing our Dreams”, sharing her inspiring experiences with young PolyU members, encouraging them to unleash their talents and pursue their dreams with persistence and resilience.  

 

On 24 November, the University-level interdisciplinary policy think tank, the Policy Research Centre for Innovation and Technology, will host its launch ceremony and the Innovation and Technology Forum.  Mr Charles Li, co-founder and chairman of Micro Connect, former chief executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, will deliver the keynote presentation on the topic of accelerating GBA development with fintech and digitalization, while a stellar panel of I&T policy thought leaders will discuss Hong Kong’s integration into the GBA and the National I&T system.

 

The year-long celebrations will wrap up on a high note with the Anniversary Celebration Dinner on 25 November. This finale of our 85th Anniversary celebrations will bring together members of the PolyU family, PolyU supporters and community leaders for a heart-warming time together.
