Biography

Xian Zhang is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She received the Ph.D. degree in Industrial Design from Northwestern Polytechnical University, China. She was a joint PhD researcher at the National University of Singapore from 2024 to 2025.

With a background in lighting and human factors engineering, her research focuses on experimental studies of human physiological and cognitive responses to lighting environments, aiming to understand and model non-visual effects through multimodal physiological signals such as EEG and HRV. Her work further investigates human–system interaction in lighting environments, human response modeling, and the development of adaptive, data-driven lighting systems for human-centered and context-aware applications.
