Service-Learning

As part of the undergraduate degree curriculum, PolyU students are required to complete a three-credit service-learning (SL) subject before graduation. Each SL subject contains a significant service component that integrates community service with academic studies, with an aim to hone students’ problem-solving skills, arouse their senses of citizenship and compassion, as well as enriching their learning experience.

In general, you may register for a SL subject whenever you want, with the exception that Year 1 students on a Bachelor’s Degree programme (4-year duration) are not eligible to take a SL subject in their first semester.

PolyU clearly affirms the importance of non-local learning experiences and students are encouraged and supported to participate in various learning activities outside Hong Kong. Our extensive non-local service-learning programmes offer excellent opportunities to broaden students’ global vision, enhance their leadership skills, nurture cross-cultural awareness and develop civic-mindedness through serving different communities outside of Hong Kong. The Service-Learning and Leadership Office (SLLO) is working with academic units to expand the number and diversity of non-local service-learning opportunities for students.

Useful information on service-learning is available on the website of SLLO.

Welcome to reach out to SLLO by phone at (852) 2766 4376 when you need more help!
