Abstract

This paper reports the preliminary work of an ongoing project to construct a Chinese and English bilingual medical termbank in respirology. We created a term list of respiratory infections based on a corpus of relevant medical research paper abstracts published in the past 10 years, and mapped it to the concepts and relations in the linguistic ontology Sinica BOW and the medical domain ontology ICD-11. The final termbank of respiratory infections that we constructed can bridge laymen’s expressions with specialist terms while linking linguistic interpretations with medical science knowledge.
