Biography
Dr Weng Yi received her Ph.D. in 2025 from the Department of Language Sciences and Technology at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research focuses on language development and speech perception in children from tonal language backgrounds. Employing both behavioural and neuroimaging approaches, she investigates language processing in typically developing children as well as in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Her work has been published in journals including Child Development, Autism, and the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research. Her doctoral dissertation received Outstanding Thesis Awards from both the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong and the Faculty of Humanities at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
