Biography

Clara’s research focuses on computational and quantitative approaches to language, integrating methods from natural language processing, cognitive science, and data science. She is particularly interested in how computational models can be used to investigate linguistic structure, meaning, and use at scale. Her work explores the development and evaluation of NLP systems as tools not only for language technology applications but also for advancing theoretical insights into language.

A central strand of her research examines cognitive and affective modelling of language. She investigates how linguistic patterns reflect underlying cognitive processes and emotional states, and how these dimensions can be represented and predicted through computational models. By combining corpus‑based methods, statistical modelling, and machine learning techniques, she seeks to better understand how language encodes thought, emotion, and social interaction.

More broadly, Clara’s work is grounded in data‑driven linguistic analysis. She employs large‑scale textual data to uncover systematic patterns across genres, registers, and communities, aiming to bridge empirical findings with theoretical questions about language structure and use. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, her research contributes to both methodological innovation and substantive insights into human language.
