Biography

Dr. Cymie Ng is currently an Assistant Professor of Practice of the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Language Science and Technology of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences degree from the University of Hong Kong and qualified as a speech therapist. She later received her Master of Medical Sciences degree from the University of Hong Kong and her PhD in Surgery from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Cymie has been developing her professional career and working in various local centres, schools and hospitals. She has broad experiences in serving children, adolescents, adults and elderlies with various communication and swallowing disorders. Her clinical expertise includes childhood speech sound disorders, autistic spectrum disorders as well as other communication and swallowing disorders associated with medical pathologies.

Cymie has a major focus of research in speech sound disorders and clinical applications of speech recognition in speech therapy. She had presented in international scientific conferences and published clinical materials. She has strong passion in contributing to the speech therapy profession. She has served as clinical educator for various local speech therapy programmes.  She has always been actively supporting the training of rehabilitation practitioners in mainland China and had participated in numerous charitable missions to serve the underprivileged in China
