Biography
Ms. Lam is an instructor in the Japanese Minor Program at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. With over a decade of experience teaching at PolyU, she has contributed extensively to Japanese language education and cultural studies.
Ms. Lam teaches a variety of courses within the Japanese Minor Program, ranging from beginner to advanced Japanese language, as well as Japanese cultural studies and intercultural communication. Drawing on her research in linguistics and years of teaching experience, she adopts innovative, evidence-based practices to help students gain both linguistic proficiency and cultural competence.
In addition to her academic and teaching career, Ms. Lam is an accomplished porcelain artist specializing in both traditional Japanese and western styles. She frequently leads art introduction workshops at the university to enrich students’ understanding of Japanese art and culture, fostering deeper connections with the subject beyond the classroom.
Ms. Lam is dedicated to creating opportunities for students to engage with the local Japanese community and develop a nuanced understanding of intercultural communication. Through her events and workshops, she cultivates a learning environment where students experience Japanese language and culture in action.
Ms. Lam is driven by her passion for advancing Japanese studies and intercultural communication. Her commitment to integrating linguistics, cultural studies, and art allows her to offer a holistic and enriching experience for her students. She aspires to continue bridging the gap between theory and practice, furthering cross-cultural understanding and exchange.
