This web-based platform, which launched in late March 2025, aims to improve administrative efficiency in tracking health and safety training records and issuing training certifications.
Key Features of the STRS:
1. User-Friendly Interface
The new STRS application features a clean and intuitive interface, making it easier for users to navigate training courses, sponsorship requests, and user management.
2. Sponsorship Management
The revamped system allows Department Health and Safety Officers (DHSOs) and Departmental Administrators to easily create a Blackboard training account for visiting academics or research partners.
3. Enquire pre-requisite safety training compliance status
STRS facilitates administrators or lab scientific officers in searching for users based on various criteria, including department, registration date, and more. This helps to drive up compliance with pre-requisite safety training before granting access to and use of research facilities.
4. Personalized Training Records
The STRS allows users to view their personal training records, including the status of completed modules and certifications.
5. Extendibility
STRS is further enhanced to interact seamlessly with other systems, such as the University Research Facilities Management System (URFMS) and the new Radiation Safety Management System (currently under development). This extendibility not only enhances data sharing and collaboration across platforms but also significantly improves the user experience by providing a more integrated and efficient workflow.
