Curriculum

All students admitted to the scheme will embark on a Common Year One curriculum. Towards the end of Year One, students can choose their preferred programmes within the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences through a ranking assessment, which considers a combination of entrance qualification score, Year One GPA, and interview performance.

 

From Year Two onwards, students will progress into one of the following majors to deepen their expertise in their chosen discipline:  

 

Double Major Options

Students interested in expanding their studies beyond a single degree may apply for a Second Major from another department within FCMS. To be eligible for consideration, students must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the end of Year 1.  The total credit requirements for a Double Major vary based on the degree of similarity between the two Majors, typically ranging from 136 to 161 credits.

  1. Applied Mathematics + Artificial Intelligence ^
  2. Applied Mathematics + Artificial Intelligence with Financial Technology ^
  3. Applied Mathematics + Computer Science
  4. Applied Mathematics + Enterprise Information Systems
  5. Artificial Intelligence + Investment Science and Finance Analytics ^
  6. Artificial Intelligence + Quantitative Finance and FinTech ^
  7. Artificial Intelligence with Financial Technology + Investment Science and Finance Analytics ^
  8. Computer Science + Data Science and Analytics
  9. Computer Science + Investment Science and Finance Analytics
  10. Computer Science + Quantitative Finance and FinTech
  11. Data Science and Analytics + Enterprise Information Systems
  12. Enterprise Information Systems + Investment Science and Finance Analytics
  13. Enterprise Information Systems + Quantitative Finance and FinTech

Secondary Major Options

The following programmes offer the opportunity to pursue a Secondary Major, enhancing students’ academic journeys with insights and skills in either Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IE) or Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (AIDA). To be eligible for consideration, students need to achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.70 or above at the end of Year 1.

  • BSc (Hons) in Applied Mathematics with a Secondary Major in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics
  • BSc (Hons) in Investment Science and Finance Analytics with a Secondary Major in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics
  • BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Analytics with a Secondary Major in Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Minor Options

Students wishing to diversify their learning and gain complementary skills can opt to pursue a Minor in another discipline. This flexible pathway allows students to explore personal interests or acquire multidisciplinary knowledge to enhance their career prospects without the commitment of a full second major.
