  • Students may enrol in any awards without being subject to further assessment.

  • The option of a Secondary Major in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IE) is available to the students of BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Analytics. Admission to the Secondary Major is competitive and is subject to a different credit requirement for graduation. Please see Secondary Major Details for further information.

  • Students may also choose to pursue a Double Major, adding a Second Major from another department within the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences to their studies.  This option gives students the chance to broaden their academic experience and earn two awards when they graduate. Admission to the Double Major is competitive and requires a different credit requirement for graduation.

Aims and Characteristics

This four-year full-time scheme provides students with solid training in mathematical, statistical and computer-programming skills, covering key areas such as artificial intelligence, data science and analytics, as well as applications in finance and other domains. The curriculum offers flexible pathways to accommodate different interests and career aspirations.

This Scheme comprises the following three undergraduate Major programmes:

The BSc (Hons) in Artificial Intelligence and BSc (Hons) in Artificial Intelligence with Financial Technology focus on the foundations of machine learning and artificial intelligence, alongside modern topics such as neural networks, computer vision, large language models, and generative models, among others. Students pursuing the Financial Technology specialism (BScAIFT) will further apply AI knowledge to finance-related contexts.

The BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Analytics trains graduates with expertise spanning the core disciplines of mathematics, statistics and computer science. It emphasises the critical arc from data to information, information to knowledge, and knowledge to decision-making, preparing students to tackle complex analytical challenges across industries.
