“Grant for Good” Oxfam Hong Kong Poverty Alleviation Social Innovation

 Grant-making & Capacity Building Programme

Background

We live in an era where the poor are disproportionately affected by threats like COVID-19, economic recession and climate change. Oxfam Hong Kong firmly believes that passionate grassroots initiatives – especially among the youth and start-ups – that are dedicated to serving the underprivileged have much to offer to fight local and global poverty. With the Grant for Good Programme, Oxfam Hong Kong invited those dedicated to the cause to come up with creative solutions to alleviate poverty and empower vulnerable groups in the community.

Social innovation and capacity building programme

JCDISI is honoured to be invited as Training Partner to jointly develop and deliver a unique and practical social innovation and capacity building programme during October to December 2021. Teams that are selected to join the initiative received the opportunity to participate in a 5-day-workshop to improve their project planning and execution skills. The workshops combined the "Design Thinking", method commonly used in the social innovation sector, and the concept of "Theory of Change", which is familiar to many NGOs, to support eight teams aspiring to create poverty alleviation projects and design new services.

Planning Toolkit

The following planning toolkit, jointly published by Oxfam Hong Kong and JCDISI, recorded part of the training programme to help aspirants design and plan innovative poverty alleviation projects. All sectors are welcome to use it flexibly according to actual needs for non-profit cultivation, teaching, community development or research. The contents of the manual are protected by copyright. Please indicate the source accurately if you are quoting the contents of this toolkit.
